I GOT MY RAISE (& Tenacious D)

Well I got my raise!!!!! WOOHOO!!!

I can officially say that I will be living comfortably now. Bills, school payments, rent and food will no longer be an issue and I can actually spend frivolously, which of course I will not. But I do plan on doing some serious shopping now :)

Time to update this 1990’s wardrobe for some of these weird city fashions!! OH I CAN’T WAIT!

On another note, our office is being renovated so we were moved down to the basement for a few weeks. Now, instead of me being separate from my crazy boss, we are all three in the same room. Should be an interesting ride for the next few weeks haha. I was up and running by the time both of them came into the office. My boss is still just tooling around the building haha.

I am going to the symphony tonight and then off to VA by plane tomorrow so I will be writing about my adventures on Monday.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tenacious D is a comedy rock band composed of musician/actors Kyle Gass (a.k.a. "KG", "Kage","Rage Kage") and musician/actor/comedian Jack Black (a.k.a. "JB", "Jables"). The duo met in Los Angeles where they were both in a theater troupe called the Actors Gang and began playing together in 1994.

The band first gained popularity in 1999 when they starred in the eponymously titled Tenacious D TV series, in which JB and Kage established themselves as the "Greatest Band on Earth."

Most of their songs have storyteller-style lyrics. They are known for their upbeat classic rock style and vulgar comedy. They have become one of the biggest cult bands of the late '90s and 2000s through genius songs like their tribute to the greatest song in the world (because they forgot how the greatest song in the world went after conquering the Devil with it.)

If you still think they are not worth it then maybe their fellow artists will change your mind. The duo has played opening gigs for friends like Beck, Pearl Jam, and the Foo Fighters and embarked on their first full-fledged tour. There was even a bidding war which Epic records won. Plus, when the pair performs live they do so with just their acoustic guitars. However, for their album, they enlisted the help of Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, Phish keyboardist Page McConnell, guitarist Warren Fitzgerald and Redd Kross’ bass player Steve McDonald. Each make guest appearances and The Dust Brothers produced the album. Now that is just some damn good combinations right there. You can’t go wrong!

“In 2001, the D's momentum hit critical mass: The group set out on their second nationwide tour, playing significantly larger venues than before and selling out many of their dates. And, despite an attempt to recall Tenacious D at the last moment because of its back cover, which depicted two babies chained to an altar, their debut entered the charts at a surprisingly strong number 33. Meanwhile, Spumco, the production company of Ren & Stimpy mastermind John K., crafted an appropriately witty and raunchy video for the single "Fuck Her Gently," and, last but not least, the duo continued work on a Tenacious D movie.” ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
